 How many days to Christmas?
Back to Full Blog

Hi Folks, thanks for stopping by!

So, as we have just had ‘for some of us’ one of the most stressful times of the year, Christmas, what with spending money buying presents, visiting people and having a festive time.

I thought I’d mention two essential oils that are synonymous with Christmas.

Did you know that Aromatherapy has been around for thousands of years?

According to legend, essential oils are mentioned in the Bible, Frankincense and Myrrh were presented to baby Jesus by the three wise men.

Frankincense which is good for: Anxiety, asthma, bronchitis, coughing, scars, and stress.
Myrrh which is good for: Arthritis, Bronchitis, Colds, Digestive Problems, Mouth and Gum Problems and Stimulates the Immune System, are both essential oils derived from the resins -- dried tree sap -- that come from trees which are common to Somalia.
The way people collect the sap is similar to the way people collect rubber-tree sap or pine-tree sap. Cutting the tree's bark causes the sap to ooze out of the cut. The sap used to create both frankincense and myrrh comes out slowly and is allowed to dry on the tree.
Both in the time of the three wise men and today, frankincense and myrrh are commonly used to create incense. You can mix frankincense and myrrh with spices, seeds and roots to create different aromas. Traditionally, you burn the powdered incense with charcoal in a saucer or on a small stand, but today you can purchase it as an essential oil and use it in a vaporiser, or put a few drops of oil onto a coaster or even a tissue.
Did you also know that Christmas is also the time of the year when colds and flu abound? People gathering together, kissing and hugging are methods which enable viruses to spread. If you wanted to help yourself and others around you from catching the bugs try using essential oils to purify the areas, essential oils are a great natural bug killer.

Hope you are ok, happy thoughts
