Today I’m going to discuss Aloe Vera.

Hi Folks

Thanks for stopping by.

I started drinking Aloe Vera after I spoke to my goddaughters Mum!

Visiting our goddaughter at the weekend her mother (April) was explaining that she suffers from inflammation in her joints due to the cold weather and the onset of arthritis.

April said that she has started drinking one tablespoon of pure Aloe Vera juice every day, (I knew you could get it gel form as I have used it in Crete for my sunburn when on our holiday, but I didn’t know you could get juice) she has found that it really is helping her overcome the problems she has been having with her body.

It is claimed by a doctor on the internet that people with Arthritis, under the influence of Aloe Vera, were able to reduce the number of anti-inflammatory and pain killing tablets to a level where they ceased to get the usual side effects of abdominal pain and indigestion, Also that asthmatics were able to cut down on their usage of inhalers, including the steroid inhalers. These effects were probably due to Aloe Vera's innate anti-inflammatory effect as well as its effect on the immune system.

Being a mum, April is on the go all the time, having aching joints is no fun.

So, I've complied some interesting information for you on Aloe Vera, and this is something I’m going to add to my website aromatherapy-stress-relief.com

The semi-tropical plant, Aloe Vera, has a long and illustrious history dating from biblical times. It has been mentioned throughout recorded history and given a high ranking as an all-purpose herbal plant. There are over 250 species of aloe grown around the world, but only two commercially processed. The Aloe's thick, tapered, spiny leaves grow from a short stalk near ground level.

Mature plants can grow as tall as 4 feet with the average leaf being around 28 to 36 inches in length. Each plant usually has 12-16 leaves that when mature, may weigh up to three pounds. The plants can be harvested every 6 to 8 weeks by removing 3 to 4 leaves per plant.

Aloe Vera Gel, beginning in the 1950's, has gained respect as a commodity used as a base for nutritional drinks, as a moisturizer, and a healing agent in cosmetics. Analysis has revealed that this clear gel contains amino acids, minerals, vitamins, enzymes, proteins, polysaccharides and biological stimulators.

Research conducted around the world leaves little doubt that certain biochemical properties of Aloe will become proven facts.
Such attributes as moisturizing and penetrating properties are known, but the attributes such as its healing abilities and analgesic action to bacterial activity has ‘as yet’ not been clearly defined and documented through properly controlled scientific research and testing.
BUT, decades of scientific studies on Aloe gel reveal hundreds of structures with anti-inflammation, anti-ulcer, tyrosine inhibition, skin protection, laxative effect and other biological activities.

Aloe Vera has been shown to enhance defence mechanisms, and it has a variety of components to help combat periodontal disease and other oral conditions, even gum problems associated with Hiv and Leukaemia patients receive relief. Moreover, no adverse, toxic effects were found with the ingestion of aloe Vera

Aloe Vera Gel dressings may be used to support and maintain a moist wound healing environment while providing a number of requirements for the ideal wound dressing (I have experienced this with my sunburn)

Unfortunately, in all cases where Aloe Vera suppresses symptoms they return after a few days if the gel or drink is stopped, so taking Aloe Vera in no way results in a permanent cure.

I hope this information is of use to anyone reading this journal and find what I write useful, comments would be appreciated?
